Reducing Sugar Intake Allows the Body to Heal

Your body already knows how to heal itself. What some folks don't know is how toxic sugar can be to our cells in every part of our body.

SUGAR IS MORE ADDICTIVE THAN COCAINE

When we reduce our sugar intake to 30g or less a day, we see a significant difference in pain, inflammation, headache reduction, hormone balances, energy increases, libido, and much more!

What is Sugar? Remember that pyramid of nutrition we grew up learning about? Well, the bottom of that pyramid told us it was good to eat a lot of breads, grains, pasta, etc... All of that breaks down into sugar! Now add in the highly processed foods, the desserts and treats that tempt us each day, fruit which is a good source of sugar and the sweet drinks and that adds up really fast!

THIS WEEK: Focus on Sugary Sweetened Beverages

Reducing sugary sweetened beverages will greatly improve your health. Have you ever added up the grams of sugar in typical foods consumed? No? Let's do that now...

Pop Tart = 16g

Frosted Flakes = 10g

Fruit Cup to go = 18g

OJ = 22g

Burger at BK = 11g

Snickers = 27g

Two pieces of bread = 4g

Snack bites of cookies bag = 17g

Monster Energy Drink = 54g

Snapple tea = 27g

Donut for DD = 17g

Mountain Dew = 46g

Pizza = 4g per slice

Starbucks Frappuccino = 48g

If you add up a day of Frosted Flakes, OJ, with a frappuccio at work, Burger for lunch at BK, Snickers, Monster Drink to power through the day in the afternoon, pizza for dinner and fruit cup and donut with mountain dew to drink, that's a day of 212g of sugar. It adds up so fast!

So what if we focus this week on reducing the Sugary Sweetened Beverages and replacing them with water. You can add lemon to water for a great detox of the body! If you want some flavor add a little berry juice or apple but just a little.

Add up a day of sugary foods for you and see what your average is over 3 days. Try to focus long-term on reducing daily sugar to 30g or less. American Heart Association recommends 36g or less per day. Cancer grows with sugar as a catalyst. Prevent or slow or stop cancer growth by reducing greatly your daily sugar intake.

How? Start by replacing a typical high sugar snack with a veggie or nut snack instead. Try maybe a meal replaced by a protein smoothie. Try different healthy choices over time.

This week though, just focus mainly on the Sugary Sweetened Beverages.
